My name is Ashlea, I’m a travel writer and the founder & brain behind Truly Toronto.
If there are two things I know it’s travel and Toronto which makes me uniquely qualified to be an authority on all things Toronto.
Toronto is a destination I think many people underestimate. People pop in for a conference or concert and struggle to get under the skin of the city, but I’m here to change that.
If you truly want to experience Toronto, you need the local insight and as an honest-to-God Torontonian who lives and breathes this city, I’m making sure Truly Toronto delivers.
Here, you’ll only find first-hand experience, genuine human advice, and recommendations I actually love and approve of.

I moved to Canada from Northern Ireland as a child and the stark difference between my home country and my new country opened up a whole kettle of curiosity fish I’ve been leaning into ever since.
I’ve been travelling independently since I was 18 years old and have explored more than 40 countries. And this love of all things travel led me to make exploration my career and not just a passion.
Over my 15 years in the travel industry I’ve worked for some of the world’s best known travel brands like Flight Centre and Intrepid Travel. I’ve run a travel agency, been an adventure travel specialist, a luxury travel specialist, a Canada expert (no, really), been a tailormade itinerary designer, and now a travel writer.
I guess you could say, I know everything worth knowing about travel and I’ve decided to channel all my knowledge and expertise into helping people really get to know the city I call home.
